Sportswear

Country Norway

During two intense years, the seminal Oslo City Straight Edge band Sportswear was relentless. Two 7” EPs on Crucial Response Records, numerous appearances on compilation records, Scandinavian and European tours with bands such as Floorpunch, Hands Tied, Ten Yard Fight, and J.R. Ewing. Youth of Today’s Ray Cappo signed them to his Supersoul label and produced "The Wear"’s full-length debut album—Building Dwelling Thinking. The album was recorded January 1999 at no other place than Don Fury’s in Little Italy, Manhattan, New York City—probably the world’s most famous studio when it comes to Hardcore.

Named after frowned upon Britpop band Menswear, The Wear initially just aimed to flaunt stylish Hardcore fashion and cover classic Hardcore tunes to further infuriate the many critics of their beloved Oslo City Straight Edge.

However, within the shortest time the snotty intervention transformed into a "real band" and set out to write serious, hard, soulful, inspirational, and angst ridden Hardcore that was to turn heads, make waves, and inspire stage dives through Scandinavia, USA, and beyond.

In February 1999 everything went black and the band suffered a painful death.
